Elmer's Big Belfast Trail!

21st Jun 2022

Elmers' Big Belfast Trail will host 70 creatively, designed Elmer Sculpures, who will go on safrai across Belfast. Among the herd of elephants is little 'Ebenezer' who was designed and named by the pupils of Holy Family Primary School.

As a result of the organization of various events and activities the children and staff  of Holy Family Primary school raised over  £1,000 for 'The Childrens' Hospice'. Consequently the school was presented with a sculpture of an elephant, and were invited to decorate it in preparation for what looks to be the biggest public art event ever held in Belfast!

We named our big fellow 'Ebenezer' meaning 'Gift from God'. He is one of a herd of 70 elephants who will entertain Belfast citizens and the 1million visitors who are  set to follow the elephant trail, that will take them on a journey of discovery through the city and beyond. Later in the Autumn, after his travels,  Ebenezer will find a more permanent home in our beautiful new Eco garden.

Each and every pupil in our school participated in  Ebenezer's decoration, under the guidance of our artistic Eco co.ordinator Mrs Carmel Rooney. The children decided that Ebenezer should reflect our own environment. He proudly wears motifs reflecting, our School, our Church, our Parish, the local G.A.A club, our hobbies and past-times.

We wish Ebenezer a safe journey and thank you most sincerely for helping us raise such a generous sum for such a worthy cause!
