Sacramental Celebrations!

Confirmation

 

32 former pupils. of Holy Family Primary School Teconnaught, returned from their various Secondary schools to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in Teconnaught church, on Wednesday 23 September and Thursday 24 September 2020. Father Brendan Smyth administered the Sacrament on both evenings. Covid 19 restrictions were in place, allowing only limited congregations. Nevertheless not a single child was absent from the celebrations. The vice principal Mr. Conor Murphy prepared the children for the Sacrament, which  had been rescheduled due to  recent ‘Lockdown’. Mr.Murphy acted as M.C on both evenings. The principal  Mr.Christopher Curran was present on both occasions  as was Miss.G Smyth, Religious Co.ordinator. Sharing the joy of the day were teachers, Mrs Laura Gilchrist, Mrs Suzanne Mc Kay, and Mrs Marguerite Murray.

 

 

First Holy Communion:

 

A large class of 34 pupils, actively participated in Holy mass and received Communion for the first time in Holy Family church Teconnaught, at two celebrations on Saturday 26th September 2020. Father Brendan Smyth was celebrant at both masses. The children were prepared for the Sacrament by Mrs Carmel Rooney in Primary 4 and Mrs Geraldine  Sproule in Primary  5. Both teachers read the Psalm and acted as M.C. at the masses, While the celebration was postponed due to Covid 19, and despite present difficulties 100% of the children shared the joyous occasion. Grandparents and family members , unable to attend due to present restrictions, were prayed for at both masses. Mr. Christopher Curran, Principal and Miss G.Smyth, Religious co.ordinator were present at both masses and helped  the sacristans William and Anne Caffrey to prepare  the church.  Mr. Conor Murphy vice principal was also present at both masses, assisting and making videoclips of the services. Miss Frances Kelly who has been classroom assistant to the children throughout their time in Holy Family came to celebrate with the children on this special day.

 

The staff congratulates the children and their parents for their wholehearted participation in the liturgies.
