Home Learning through School Website

23rd Mar 2020

Dear parents,

The teachers at Holy Family have been preparing work to be shared via the school website, which is password protected and can be located in the Documents section of the website. The packs which have been sent home are for working on until Easter, after which the website will be there to provide work and support.

While the website is not yet fully functional access can be granted with the password ‘Annacloy’, however I would urge parents to wait until the official launch of the school website’s home learning section via email.

We have also tried to provide other support material such as Mathletics question booklets and answers to questions when applicable on the school website.  Please ensure your children read widely over this period.  As outside access will be limited, books and reading material can be found by checking online for the Northern Ireland Libraries app or using devices using as Kindles or iPads.

We do not expect parents to print the work provided on the website, instead we have included two blank books, one for Maths and another with lines for any writing.  I would suggest downloading the question photographs for that day on an iPad or tablet and checking the available answers later. If you wish to carry out a different creative task such as writing, dancing, art we totally encourage this.  The work provided is an outline, do not feel completely tied to it.

We would also encourage trying to create a regular structure for your day and have included a suggested timetable for activities. Variety is important for your child's emotional, as well as academic, well being.

We deeply regret that the programme of learning and activities which your children have been looking forward to cannot be delivered by the teachers in person.  I understand the great upset of the pupils missing their final term of school. We will continue to give our best to ensure support is there for parents and will provide contact details when the website is updated.

Can we finally express what a pleasure it has been to teach your children and to watch the develop as learners and as people.  Our future is in good hands.  We wish you all my profound thanks and good luck in the challenges we will all be facing together in the upcoming months.  You and your families are in my prayers.

Many thanks

Conor Murphy
